For those who don’t know what the heck “a Pug Crawl” is: every year, the Oregon Humane Society puts on this glorious event to celebrate pugs (and their pals), while helping to raise funds for the shelter. This year was particularly spectacular because the theme was STAR WARS. I can’t tell you how excited I was for this. And apparently, a large portion of the Portland population felt the same way.
This year was a record-breaking Pug Crawl, despite the always-present-at-Pug-Crawl rain (Seriously, Ma Nature; can you give the poor pugs a break once in a while?). Over 2,000 people and around 800 pugs all crammed together on the street outside Portland Brewing Company. Plenty of delicious food, beer, and wonderful shenanigans took place. And, of course, there was a pug parade. Yes, a pug PARADE. Complete with costume contest.
Also: the coolest part? Pug Crawl resulted in $28,000 raised for the pets of OHS this year. This is the highest amount in the history of this event! Go Pug Crawlers!
For those of you who couldn’t make it, or who are just now hearing of this magnificent event, I give to you: Pug Crawl 2016!
